Bodum Electric Burr Coffee Grinder

I have had two of these over the past four years. The grinder is very good and consistent. No complaints there at all. However, both eventually failed within 1-2 years. The timer will either fail completely like my first one did, or it will be intermittent and require you to press the button a dozen times to complete a two cup grind.I measure my beans before I grind, so I don't really need a timer. A timer is only needed if you leave the hopper full of beans all the time. Storing your beans in a sealed container seems like a much better way to handle your coffee, before you grind.I wish they would just make these without a timer and one push of the button for on, and one push for off. They might last a lot longer if they did that. Otherwise, this is a great coffee grinder.

This company makes good products! This burr grinder works great. I wish the cover of the jar snapped on firmer, but otherwise it works fine.

This is my first burr grinder. I've been using blade grinders all my life. You immediately see the difference in consistency and ease of use. What I don't like that the grinding chamber doesn't empty out and I only grind enough beans for one 16 oz mug and I grind it for 20 seconds, which has it running long enough that it should be fully ground. What happens is I remove the catch jar and there is some static mess but not a big deal. When slide the jar back in place I can hear the crunch of coffee on the jar, so I pull it back out and grinds spill out from the chamber onto the counter. The chamber does not empty out, so it looks as if I will have tap on it a bunch after the grind to shake out the chamber. This seems unnecessary. I have a call into Biden, but so far their support seems weak since they didn't answer an acknowledged email I sent them. I would probably pass if I had know more. A return is not out of the question, though sadly this is a third party seller and I didn't catch that at purchase.

First of all, the good things about this grinder. It is very easy to use and grinds coffee pretty consistently, whether you like a finer grind or a very coarse grind, or anything in between. This does a great job with that. Cleaning isn't super difficult, but it isn't super easy either. If you see videos on how others clean the grinder, grinding rice does pretty well getting stuck coffee out of the burrs. It's not perfect once though so it may depend on how much rice you're willing to "sacrifice" to clean. The biggest con for us is the grinds that fall out when the container is removed. It is recommended by others to tap the side of the grinder to prevent this. Sometimes it works. Most of the time, it doesn't. Even after cleaning up all the loose grinds that fall from the grinder when the container is removed, quite a bit still remains and fall into the canister when reinserted. For the price, it's not a bad grinder but it's personal choice on how much one would like to spend to get fresh coffee from whole beans. I really can't say whether I would recommend or not, but it does what it is meant to do: grind coffee.
